Paper Rudolph (keepsake)

This was a project that is not only great for christmas decorating but a wonderful keepsake to remember your children in those precious little years.

Paper Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

This was another great project to work on with my little boy. It is also a quick one! These type of crafts are my favorite because over the years you can see how much they grow as can they. So let’s get started.

Supplies Needed:

  • 1 sheet of dark brown paper
  • 1 sheet of light brown paper
  • 1 sheet of white paper
  • black marker
  • glue
  • Foam brush (or something to spread glue on nose)
  • scissors
  • cotton ball/styrofoam ball (I went with the cotton ball to keep costs down)
  • red glitter

Instructions:

  1. On the dark brown paper trace an outline of your child’s foot.
  2. Next trace an outline of both your childs hands. (If you are using a stencil of their hands from a previous project then make sure you flip your stencil over so that all your pen marks will be in the back)
  3. Then cut out your foot and both hands
  4. With the white paper draw 2 ovals and cut them out
  5. Now we are going to lay everything out so make sure your foot and both hands are pen marked side down.
  6. First lay your foot down
  7. Next lay the 2 hands on top of the foot so that the hands are just covering the toes but you should still be able to see the middle toe. The hands should lay pinky side in.
  8. Glue them in place.
  9. Next lay the 2 white ovals to set as the eyes but make sure they cover where the hands overlapped the foot.
  10. Then take your black marker and color in the eye balls.
  11. The next step is to glue your cotton ball down by the heel of the foot.
  12. After that is dried and secured cover the whole cotton ball with glue.
  13. next sprinkle your glitter to cover the whole nose and then shake off the extra.

Thats it!

I have to say that for the nose if you the cotton ball make sure you don’t leave it anywhere that an animal might lay on it while the nose is drying. I made the mistake of leaving my first Rudolph on the table next to me and my 19 lb cat decided that it was a great place to lay down for his nap and crushed the nose. At least the glue and glitter had dried by then!!

please comment back and remember to come back and share your Rudolph keepsake!
